Vince Pannullo and Ron Pramshufer

There is an old adage: Never mix business with pleasure. That is a saying that Ron Pramschufer and Vince Pannullo chose to ignore. The photo to the left was taken in 1994 after the two chartered a fishing boat in Puerto Rico.

Vince owned a printing company catering to large corporations that Ron, then an independent print sales representative, brought a lot of business to. A couple of years after the fishing trip, Ron founded self-publishing, Inc and used Vince’s company for much of the new company’s graphic design work. Until Ron’s passing last year, Vince and Ron enjoyed thirty years of friendship and business partnering.

As a writer, Michael Heath always wanted to get his foot into the print and publishing business. One day in 2007 he wrote a letter to Ron looking for a job. A couple of more letters and some calls and Ron gave Michael a computer and an office overlooking Grand Central Station. From day one, Michael talked with authors about their book projects leading them down the road to getting published. It may have been a business, but for Michael, it was always a pleasure working with Ron.

Ron Pramschufer was the founder of Self Publishing. He died October 5, 2018, after a yearlong battle with brain cancer.
